Officer & Civilian Staff

We’re passionate about one thing…our cadets

The Cadet Instructors Cadre (CIC)

Is a branch of approximately 7,500 Canadian Armed Forces officers dedicated to the training, supervision, and safety of Sea, Army, and Air Cadets. It is the largest officer branch in the Canadian Forces and operates under the Cadet Organizations Administration and Training Service (COATS), which includes members from all branches of the military reserve.

Civilian Volunteers and Instructors (CV/CI)

Civilian Volunteers (CVs) and Civilian Instructors (CIs) play a vital role in the success of the Canadian Cadet Organizations (CCO). These dedicated individuals generously share their time, skills, and passion to support the development of youth across the country.

Civilian Instructors (CIs) are paid members who bring valuable expertise to training, administration, and corps operations. Many come from diverse professional backgrounds and help enrich the program with specialized knowledge and mentorship.

Civilian Volunteers (CVs) assist with a variety of cadet activities under the supervision of staff. Whether it’s supporting training nights, helping with logistics, or providing additional supervision, CVs are essential to creating a safe, engaging, and well-supported environment for cadets.

Together, CIs, CVs and Officers enhance the cadet experience, ensuring young Canadians have access to meaningful leadership, citizenship, and fitness opportunities in their communities. Their commitment and care make a lasting impact on both the program and the youth it serves.

Captain Hastings

Commanding Officer

Captain N. Hastings, CD

I’ve been proudly involved with the Cadet Program for 25 years, and my passion for youth development extends into my career as a Child and Youth Care Worker and Social Service Worker, specializing in supporting young people. Helping youth grow into confident, capable leaders has always been close to my heart.

Fun fact: I’m also a proud parent of six amazing kids—so working with youth is truly a part of my everyday life!

Captain Coulter

Deputy Commanding Officer

Captain A. Coulter, CD

I’ve been part of the Cadet Program for 27 years, supporting the corps through administration and any duties needed to keep things running smoothly. With nearly three decades of experience, I take pride in helping create a structured and supportive environment for cadets and staff alike.

Some of our staff have chosen not to have their images or names shared publicly.

We fully respect and support their decision. We remain committed to maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all members of our team, both online and in person.

2nd Lieutenant H

Unit Public Affairs Representative

The UPAR is responsible for promoting and sharing the activities, achievements, and values of our cadet corps with the public, families, and the broader community.

I’m proud to combine my background as a Registered Social Worker with my lifelong involvement in the Canadian Cadet Program, which I’ve been part of since the age of 12. With a passion for storytelling and community engagement, public affairs is a natural fit. Through photography, media, and outreach, I aim to highlight the achievements of our cadets and staff, ensuring their efforts are seen.

The Admin O plays a key role in the day-to-day operations of the cadet corps by managing the essential records and documentation that keep the unit running smoothly.

Flying has been a lifelong passion of mine. I currently hold a Private Pilot Licence with a Night Rating and am actively working toward my Commercial Pilot Licence. I recently graduated from Fanshawe’s Commercial Flight and Aviation Leadership program, and I’m excited to keep pushing forward in my aviation journey.
